HISTORY OF

The Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting

Founded in 1961, the Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting is devoted to preserving the history and traditions of the fire service. Home to more than one hundred trucks and other large fire apparatus, as well as thousands of smaller objects in over an acre of exhibit space, the Hall of Flame is the world’s largest historical firefighting museum.

Exhibits range from a basic English hand pumper built in 1725 to FDNY’s Rescue 4, which responded to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, to one of two transport buggies which carried the Granite Mountain Hotshots of Prescott, Arizona to the fatal Yarnell Hill Fire of 2013. There’s a hands-on children’s activity area and a 1951 American La France fire truck that children (and grown-ups) can climb aboard and play on. Fun and inspiring for kids and adults alike, the Hall of Flame has something for everybody!

The Hall of Flame Museum offers free parking and is located in the heart of Phoenix, on the borders of Tempe, Phoenix, and Scottsdale, and is minutes from the Phoenix Zoo, the Desert Botanical Gardens, and Sky Harbor International Airport.
