After many years in storage, one of the oldest motorized pieces in our collection, a rare 1914 Robinson Pumper from Gila Bend, Arizona, is now proudly exhibited in Gallery III.
This amazing and beautiful fire apparatus was the first motorized fire engine in Arizona. We were still a territory when it went into service with Globe (AZ) Fire Department, where it served faithfully for many years. After years of service in Globe, it was acquired by Gila Bend (AZ) Fire Department which placed into service well after World War II.
In 1993 the firefighters of Gila Bend began her restoration. Hall of Flame Museum mechanics recently completed extensive additional restoration and she is now functional. On May 8th, under her own power, she drove into Gallery III, where she’s currently on display.
Come by and see this awesome apparatus, and wonderful piece of Arizona, and firefighting history.
